Town Hall with Law and Housing Enforcement Leaders

After the unrest in Baltimore in 2015 brought issues of safety and justice to a head, HPCA organized a Community Town Hall Meeting at Calvin Rodwell Elementary School. Neighbors participated in dialog with Lt. Col. Melvin Russell and Maj. Marc Partee, of the Baltimore City Police Department, and Eric Booker, Assistant Commissioner for Code Enforcement and Inspections. The Town Hall focused on how to best address vacant and nuisance properties in our neighborhoods, along with the crime and violence they help incubate, while at the same time maintaining a spirit of compassion and respect for human rights. HPCA continues to work with law enforcement to address and monitor these issues. We are also awarded a grant by the City of Baltimore to mobilize Howard Park and other Northwest communities to get a better handle on our own vacant and nuisance problems to help the City do the job we want it to do.
